Description

Agave tequilana ‘Sunrise’ is an attractive, medium to large agave, up to 5 to 6 feet tall, with open rosettes of narrow light gray colored leaves that have pale yellow bands along the small toothed margins. The leaves are gradually narrow at the tip and end in a sharp, dark brown terminal spine. Stiff, erect leaves are arranged in an open rosette. The green flowers with pink stamens are arranged along a branched inflorescence.

Environment

Agaves need full sun and gritty soil that percolates easily. They can even do quite well when potted but use an unglazed clay pot that will allow evaporation of excess moisture.

Water needs are moderate to light depending upon the heat of the season but the Cactus should be allowed to dry out before irrigation

In growing season they benefit from the application of a granulated time release fertilizer that will provide nutrient to the plant.
