Description

Perlite is an amorphous volcanic glass with naturally high water content. When heated to 850–900°C, it expands 7–15 times its original volume, creating lightweight, brilliant white granules. This unique structure makes perlite ideal for improving soil aeration, drainage, and root health.

Properties

• Expands significantly when heated, forming reflective, porous granules
• Density: raw perlite ~1100 kg/m³; expanded perlite ~30–150 kg/m³
• Neutral pH (6.5–7.5), sterile, and disease‑free
• Acts as an insulator against extreme soil temperature fluctuations
