Porcelain Flower

Family

Apocynaceae

Origin

South East Asia

Description

Hoya latifolia 'Pot of Gold' - a truly sensational plant with its stunning foliage. This hoya boasts some of the most beautiful leaves in the hoya family. The glossy leaves are strongly veined and measure up to 25cm x 11cm, with internal variegation in gorgeous golden tones that add a touch of luxury to any space.

It produces delicate creamy-pink star-shaped flowers, each measuring 10mm across with a yellow-centred cream corona. Each umbel can hold up to 26 of these beautiful blooms, which emit a fresh, sweet fragrance that fills the room. The flowers last for up to 7 days, providing a stunning display that is sure to impress.

Environment

Easy to grow & don't require much attention. Hoya do best in filtered light or with lots of artificial light in indoors.

Hoya plants don't ask for much, beyond the well-draining soil and the warm humid conditions ((similar to bromeliads and orchids)

They are epyphite, can be grown in orchid medium or light potting mix with lots of bark conditioner. Hoya like the security of a snug pot, and plants that are a bit root bound will flower more prolifically than those that are swimming around in a giant pot.

This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds .

Landscape Use

It makes a nice hanging basket, but also does really well as a mounted plant
