Description

Lemaireocereus pruinosus is commonly known as Grey Ghost or Organ Pipe is a columnar cactus, with sparsely to richly branching stems and reaches a size of 4-5 m in height.. Its stems are of a green color, covered with a waxy-prune skin layer, that protects them, hence the name of the species. It consists of 4-6 ribs, separated by wide intervals and equipped with wavy margins, and rather short and sparse brownish-gray spines. Each areole, present along the undulations of the ribs, has about 3 or 4 short and straight spines.. This species has small, white flowers tinged with pink.
Lemaireocereus Pruinosus blooms in summers with small pinkish-white funnel-shaped flowers with edible fruit.

Environment

Lemaireocereus Pruinosus is a very low maintenance plant. Like all cacti, this plant goes dormant during winter, so you should not water it during this time and keep it in a bright, cool position. During the growing season, water it as soon as the soil is thoroughly dry and keep it in a very well-lit spot, such as a south-facing window or outside in warm temperatures.

In mid-spring, feed with a diluted all-purpose fertilizer or one formulated for cactus and succulents.

Landscape Uses

Usually these are outdoor plant, well suited to desert gardening and xeriscaping.
