Description

Plectranthus coleoides 'Variegata' is a versatile plant with a trailing habit and evergreen variegated leaves that release a subtle, peppery aroma when crushed. The round to heart-shaped foliage has delicate, scalloped edges and features a striking contrast of green and white or creamy-yellow tones. The slightly fuzzy leaves add to the plant's appeal and emit a gentle fragrance.

This compact shrub, Plectranthus coleoides 'Variegata', grows to 25-30 cm tall and 60 or more cm wide, showcasing its stunning, white-edged foliage on long, cascading stems. While it may produce small, tubular flowers in autumn, the true star of this plant is its lush, attractive foliage.

Environment

This plant thrives in shady areas, but be sure to keep it out of direct sunlight in mild climates. It does best in well-draining, nutrient-rich soil.

For improved drainage and to prevent root rot, mix potting soil with perlite or sand. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. During the growing months of spring and summer, regular watering is crucial. In the dormant season of winter, reduce watering, but never let the soil dry out completely.

Boost growth with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the spring and summer. Decrease fertilizer usage in the fall and winter months.
